Everyone at Nest came together to create something pretty special for the Solar Eclipse in 2017. From software designers to engineers to UX leads to creative folks, we rallied around the notion that by knitting together the power of our Nest thermostats during the solar eclipse, we could prevent extra power plants from booting up (due to the dip in solar energy created during the eclipse). 750,000 people opted in. 700,000 kWh of energy saved.
